There are times in all of our lives where we move into the space between.
The space between our old story, and our new story.
The space between our old life, and our new life.
The space between being the person we used to be, that everyone knows, to being someone different, perhaps someone that no one really knows.
It’s a space where you mourn the loss of the old, and at the same time you feel the excitement of the energy of the new.
There are times too, very often, when this space feels downright scary.
I’m in this space right now.
When change is afoot, and you’re feeling uncomfortable, ask yourself the following questions:
- How will I feel if I stay in the old?
- What’s the worst thing that could happen if I move to the new?
- What am I scared or fearful of?
- What’s the best thing that could happen if I move to the new?
- How will I feel if I move to the new; jump off that cliff, and fly?
When you take the time to really think and feel into the worst case scenario, when you sit with it and really take in what it means, most of the time what was a fear of huge stature suddenly becomes familiar, understood and not so enormous at all. Kind of like a small object or being that casts a large shadow that looks scary… when you go to the source you realise that it was just where you were standing that made it look so menacing. Sometimes when we sit with a fear, and shift our perspective, the fear doesn’t seem so bad or big after all.
The other thing you need to do, is back yourself. Provided your decision comes from sitting in your heart (that means it feels good and resonates, the opposite of the brain analysing it into oblivion). I’ve noticed a lot of people around me making heart-based decisions over the money or status-based decisions (that live in the old patriarchal paradigm). Every time I witness it, I feel such a warming in my heart.
We are not just moving from an individual old story, to an individual new story.
Collectively our momentum is shifting us from old ways of being to new ones.
And it’s so exciting.
Because over the next few years so much change is coming… I’d say over the next 10 years we are going to see a lot more of those heart-based decisions.
Imagine a world where people are kind, where we work with the planet and use only sustainable practices, we eat food that is nourishing and free from harmful constituents, we are all treated equally and live feeling like we are loved, wanted and enough just as we are.
Just imagine!!!
That feels so much better now, doesn’t it?
And it can’t happen without change.
Change is growth, and as the saying goes – if you aren’t uncomfortable, you aren’t growing.
So, let’s embrace change.
Let’s embrace the space between.
And keep dreaming about the future we are creating as individuals, and as a collective.
Scary-exciting, isn’t it?
With a happy heart,
Lauren
