It's ok not to be ok

It’s ok not to be ok.

I’m not ok.

A lot of people I know are not ok.

A lot of people they know are not ok.

Heck, most of us in the world right now, are quite simply not ok.

I’m a big believer in everything happening for a reason. I agree that the system is broken and that it needs to change. I totally get it. I really do know and believe it.

But I’m still living through the complete breakdown of the world as we have always known it, and I know that you are too. It’s real. It’s here. It’s ugly.

Saying that this needed to happen, and that the world will be a better place, quite simply isn’t something that people want to hear right now.

I see you. I feel you. I hear you.

I know this is breaking your heart and exploding your mind.

I know that you’re scared for so many reasons. How are you going to pay your mortgage? Rent? Bills? Buy food?

I know that you’ve cried a river of tears just like me.

Because this is real and it’s happening for all of us.

And no one can kiss this better. Not as quickly as we need it to.

I know that the Earth needed a breather, I know we haven’t taken care as much as we should.

I know that at some point we are going to look at this as the event that changed our history, in ways we don’t yet understand.

Those that come after us, are going to talk about this as the time that the world changed.

But right now this hurts, and I’m not here to tell you that everything is going to be ok.

I’m here to tell you that I see you. I feel you. I hear you.

These are the very simple steps that I’m using to cope with life right now:

  1. I am not thinking about the future (to be honest I’m not thinking much at all).
  2. I’m doing one thing at a time. The thing that’s right in front of me (right now Monday to Friday that is home-schooling my two children and working at night).
  3. I am treating everyone with kindness, and I’m holding space with a compassionate heart because this is a fearful, terrifying time for all of us right now, and if I have the opportunity to make someone feel good… it uplifts the both of us. We all have the potential to light up the world one person at a time.

However you are feeling right now, own it. Feel it and let it move through you. Try to reach for better feeling thoughts, even if it’s just the tiniest little bit up. It’s still up.

This is a massive course correction. I’m sure the Universe has it’s reasons. But it doesn’t mean it’s easy to live through, or understand.

Big hugs to everyone.

Hang in there. Stand tall. Stand strong.

With great love,
Lauren
